Is camping allowed at Fort de Chartres?

Unfortunately we have no facilities for camping. We do allow scout groups to stay over. They should contact the fort for more information.

Can I get married at the Fort?

Yes. Many couples use the Fort as a background for their wedding. Contact the fort for more information and scheduling.

How do I donate money to Fort de Chartres?

Our support group “Les Coureur de Bois de Fort de Chartres has a special account where they take donations for the Fort. Contact the club’s secretary for more information. (see the Les Coureur de Bois section in the website)

    How do I join a re-enactment group?

There are many groups that come to Fort de Chartres. Decide what time period  and persona you are most interested and then come to some of the Fort’s events and meet the re-enactors. They are more then happy to help you. You can also contact some of the various groups in the “Links” section.

How can I use the Fort’s Library?
Fort de Chartres has a great resource library but it is not a lending library. Feel free to use it almost anytime the fort is open. It is usually closed during events. Note: we have very little information on genealogy

Yes. The site has approximately 500 acres behind the levee that is the State of Illinois only primitive hunting area. The regular game and hunting seasons for Randolph county apply. The only weapons allowed are muzzleloaders (flintlock & caplock only) and bow. The most commonly hunted game include deer, squirrel and turkey.

Can I reserve the large pavilion in the picnic area?

No. It’s use is on a first come first serve schedule.
