Les Coureur de Bois

Les Coureur de Bois du Fort de Chartres (the Woods Runners of Fort de Chartres) is the forts gun club. Founded over 30 years ago, they are an important part of Fort de Chartres family. The club is limited to flintlock muzzleloading firearms and members must dress in historic clothing. They meet the second Sunday of every month at the fort to have an informal shooting contest. They also supply the fort with much needed help, both physical and monetary.

At the Annual Rendezvous, they set up the primitive camping area, run the registration, dog soldiers, fire watch, gate guards, and trade license. They are active at many of the other special events such as Kid's Day, and the French Crafts and Trades. They have helped purchase items such as prizes, books for the library, office equipment, and even funded the trail that goes from the fort to the river.

If you would like to join Les Coureur de Bois, membership is only $10 a year and can be sent to the club's secretary / treasurer:
